Breakfast in the Botanic Gardens, Dublin |
It occurred to me at breakfast in the Botanic Gardens, Dublin, this morning, that there has been a significant culture change in Dublin over the last number of years, relating to breakfast!
I noticed in the restaurant that there were several groups that I recognised as meeting regularly there for Sunday breakfast.
Whoever heard, when I was young, of meeting for breakfast? Business people sometimes met for lunch, but, in general, people only met in the evening and in the pub.
This reminded me of my visit to Darwin, Australia, a dozen years ago, when I came in contact with the Australian custom of meeting for breakfast. The photo below shows me and my wife meeting a group of my daughters' friends for breakfast in the restaurant of the Darwin Museum. (Another day we met a group of her friends for breakfast in the Casino).
Both Dublin's Botanic Gardens and Darwin's museum present beautiful food, in a wide choice range, in a beautiful setting. Ideal for relaxed meetings! The difference is that Darwin's is in the open air, but Dublin's is indoor, but with a panoramic window. Click on the pictures to see an enlarged version.
